If you want to make the perfect light and crispy waffles just like mommy used to make them, then you will need to know a few of our tips and tricks first.
We always recommend that you preheat your waffle maker or oven before using, as this really makes the difference between a crispy waffle, and a soft, squishy waffle.
If you love those fluffy waffles with crispy, crunchy edges, then preheating the waffle iron to as hot as possible is essential!
In addition, without preheating your waffle iron, it will take you twice as long to finally cook the waffles, by which time you and your guests will be starving themselves, waiting for their delicious helping of waffles for breakfast!
Therefore, we recommend that you preheat the waffle iron first before you do anything else, if you want perfectly crispy waffles. Then, once you have left your waffle iron to preheat, then you can get to rustling up the waffle batter.
To do this, you are going to want to heat up your waffle maker on a medium high heat, and leave it to warm up. Whilst it is warming, start beating up the eggs, butter and sugar until it becomes light and fluffy. Throw in a little bit of vanilla extract for flavor, and mix the batter up.
With a light, fluffy and airy mixture, you can add the flour and baking soda, with a little bit of water to smoothen it all out. Whisk away until it is just right, and then throw ½ a cup of batter into each section of the waffle iron and press down the lid.

However, whichever waffle iron is the best depends entirely on your personal preference.
Some people prefer heart shaped waffles, or square waffles, whereas others prefer fun shapes such as Mickey Mouse waffles like the ones served at Disneyland.
We prefer to use the Cuisinart Double Belgian Waffle Maker Iron, as you can make up to four waffles at a time, with a good sized serving:
Whichever waffle iron you have, just be careful when pouring in the batter, as some traditional waffle irons have smaller moulds, and can only use ¼ of a cup of batter at a time.

How to Make Waffles Without Milk
If you want to make the perfect waffles without milk for yourself, then look no further! With our step by step guide of how to make the best waffles, you can become a pro waffle maker in just a few minutes.
The first thing you will need to do is gather all the ingredients. For this recipe to work, you will need 2 large eggs, 1 ¾ cups of all purpose flour, 2 tbsp of sugar, 1 tbsp of baking powder, 1 tsp vanilla extract, 1 ½ cups of water, and 6 tbsp of melted and cooled butter.
With all of your ingredients ready to go, you can then grab a large mixing bowl, and whisk together some of the butter, eggs, sugar and vanilla extract until the mixture becomes smooth.
Once this is done, you will need to add in the flour and the baking powder, and pour in the water. Then, you can stir the mixture once more until you yet again achieve a smooth texture.
With the waffle batter ready, you will then need to preheat your waffle iron. Next, pour ½ a cup of the waffle batter into the waffle iron, and close the lid.
Leave the waffles to cook according to the specific manufacturer instructions for your waffle iron. When ready, serve up your waffles with a few of your favorite toppings and enjoy them warm!

- 6 tbsp melted and cooled butter
- 2 tbsp sugar
- 1 tbsp baking powder
- 2 large eggs at room temperature
- 1⅛ cup of all purpose flour
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1½ cup of water
- Optional: fresh berries, sauce, melted chocolate, peanut butter, sugar for toppings
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the butter, eggs, sugar, and vanilla extract, and mix until thoroughly combined and smooth.
- Then, add the flour and baking powder and mix.
- Next, pour in the water, and stir until the mixture is once again smooth.
- Then, preheat the waffle iron, and pour ½ cup of the batter onto the waffle iron.
- Close your waffle iron and cook in reference to the specific manufacturer instructions.
- Serve up waffles warm with optional toppings.
