There are so many different foods out there, many that you’ve probably never tried, and knowing about all of these different foods can really help to improve your diet and make your meals more exciting.

It’s been so enjoyable creating lists of foods that begin with the ABCs, and some letters are easier than others. For example, X was super hard to do, and Z wasn’t exactly a picnic, either. But S, T, N, and B were easy, and D is a piece of cake, too. Let’s take the letter D through the entire day of sweet delights. You can have a Danish for breakfast, and maybe some deviled eggs if you need protein. How about a donut? I’m here for it! And some dark chocolate is the way to my heart. For a healthy treat, go with some dragon fruit.

Dates are a fruit that comes front the date palm tree, which is usually grown in different tropical regions.

They are becoming an increasingly popular food, and almost all varieties of them are sold dried. 


They have a wrinkled appearance and are typically small in size, ranging in color from bright red to bright yellow. They are chewy with a sweet flavor and are high in nutritional value.


You will usually find that most duck meat comes from the breasts and legs of the duck, and it is classed as a white meat.

The color of this meat is slightly darker than other white meat, and the legs are typically fattier.

A deboned duck breast can be grilled like a steak, and interestingly, you can eat duck organs, like heart, liver, and kidneys. 


Though dandelions are typically thought to be nothing more than weeds, they do snake great leaves for salads.

When it comes to picking your own, you should do so in the spring as this is when the leaves are small and sweet, before it flowers.

They are highly nutritious plants, that are loaded with vitamins and minerals, and they can be eaten both cooked and raw.

Dried squid often comes in the form of thin strands that are more convenient to eat, and you can get different parts of the squid, like the tentacles or the body.

They can be made to be either sweet or savory, and they can be boiled, steamed, or fried. 


A donut is a type of fried dough that is popular in lots of different places and it is prepared in lots of different ways to create a sweet snack that can either be homemade or made in bakeries, supermarkets, and more.

They can be cooked using a variety of different methods, like roasting, frying, boiling, and even mashing, and the matured leaves can also be eaten However, these leaves will need to be cooked in a specific way that ensures the removal of oxalic acid, which the product contains.

The young leaves are also often used and cooked similarly to spinach. 


Dahl is a food that is typically used in India, and it will feature dried split pulses that do not require you to soak them before it comes to cooking them.

India is actually the largest producer of pulses in the world, and they make many staple foods using them. The most common way that people will prepare dahl is by making things like soup, and the results are delicious.

It is common to add additional ingredients to the dish like onions, tomatoes, and various different spices to add additional flavor to the meal.

It is also not uncommon for the outer hull to be stripped off before use.
